Family Christian Center (FCC) has long been involved in outreach and missionary work in various forms. In 2014, we launched our Medical Missions Team comprised of physicians, nurses, Integrative health practitioners,
social workers, pastors and other volunteers.
Since our launch, we traveled to Africa and the Caribbean with the purpose of providing care, building relationships, and building capacity by educating providers to facilitate durable improvements in the quality of care and patient care outcomes. We have had the opportunity to serve diverse communities in need including ‘paja
(Lagos, Nigeria) and Kingston, Franklin Town, Spanish Town, Portmore, and Montego Bay in Jamaica. In Trinidad we served communities in Chaguanas, San Juan, Diego Martin and Togo. For 2018, we will be serving in Antigua and Barbuda. n general, we have served between 125-500 persons per day at our partnering churches and their surrounding communities. In fact, in some locations the need is so great that there are dozens of patients registered and waiting to be seen upon our arrival. Conditions including hypertension, diabetes, arthritis, anemia and hypercholesterolemia are extremely prevalent in the communities served. In addition to making diagnoses, initiating treatment and facilitating the necessary referrals for local care, we know that the education we provide also contributes to meaningful impact.
We are gratified to know that we are doing the Lord’s work and touched by the sincere gratitude of the communities and churches in which we have served. We are again assembling a team of volunteers to staff our next trip, scheduled for October 14 21, 2018 to Antigua, to be followed by another trip to another TBD Island in October of 2019. We will again be working with local medical personnel at several churches delivering primary care ta children and adults in church-based clinics and we need your help.
We are asking for your financial support to help us:
- Purchase basic medical supplies (glucometers, blood pressure machines, gloves, hand sanitizer, etc.)
• Purchase over the counter and prescription medications and nutritional supplements.
• Fund team member registration fees with local Ministries of Health.
• Fund ground transportation for the team as we travel between different communities.
• Offset some of the travel expenses, presently self-funded by each team member, (&$1300 per person).
In addition to your financial support, we welcome volunteers including physicians, nurses, physician assistants, nursing assistants, dentists, ophthalmologists, senior medical students, and non-medical volunteers to build our teams. We are seeking to raise $10,000 and would appreciate any support you could provide. All proceeds raised will be used for the purposes of benefiting those in need in the countries we visit. Family Christian Center is a 501c3 tax-exempt organization and 100% of your donation is tax deductible.
